Important Information

  • A hot kid-friendly lunch and afternoon snack are included in the cost of tuition.

In addition to our menu, campers also have the option of a salad bar (fruits, veggies and protein options) and a toast bar twice per week.

We cater to most dietary restrictions and allergies, including vegetarian, vegan, lactose and gluten free. We operate a nut free kitchen.

Please specify allergies and dietary requirements during the online registration so that our kitchen team can prepare accordingly.

An example of a typical Day Camp meal is a chicken patty, with tater tots and a green or macaroni salad.

Afternoon snacks are theme-dependent and may be something like a home-made cookie, cupcake, fruit cup, popcorn or soft-serve ice cream from our ice-cream truck.

PICKY EATERS: can usually be catered for with advance notice. We are usually able to offer sandwich alternatives (cheese, ham or Sunbutter and Jelly). If you anticipate your child becoming stressed around lunch times, we recommend packing a lunch and/or snacks from home so that they have options.

  • Obviously, our desire is to have your kid(s) at camp all summer but we get that can be quite cost prohibitive for most families.

Our solution to this pickle… Flexi-Day!

Flexi-day enables families to register their campers for only the days they need (or want) to send them to camp. It can be an effective way to economize on childcare costs as your not registering your child for camp on days you don’t need them to be out of the house.

Simply pick and choose the days you want them to attend as part of the registration process.

On the subject of flexibility, we also offer Breakfast and Dinner Club for families needing to send their camper in a little earlier or stay a little later. Both clubs include a hot meal at a cost of $25 per day, per club.

  • To view our Day Camp Packing List click here.

Please label your kids stuff so that we can ensure it’s safe return. We mean label everything! A sharpie or iron labels are great options. items like socks, towels, sun lotion, hats and water bottles tend to bulk out our Lost & Found the most!

  • Our Campership Program has been providing equitable access to camp to ALL God’s children since Grotonwood was established in 1956. Giving campers access to camp, despite economic hardship, has remained one of our guiding principles.

We are committed to helping any camp family who might find the cost of camp prohibitive. However, please know that whilst we do not want to deny anyone the opportunity of attending summer camp, the demand for financial aid is always very strong and our resources limited.

The cost to provide an excellent camp experience is ever increasing and donor support fluctuates year on year. We therefore ask you to limit your request to just one week of camp and to research all possible means of funding camp including your church, community organizations like the Rotary or Lions club, DDS, DCF, and town/city hall.

Should you still not be able to meet the tuition cost, you are welcome to apply by clicking on the link below:

  • Activities are prepared and led by our team of certified instructors and outdoor recreation specialists.

Activities are rotated to ensure that returning campers are participating in new, interesting and fresh activities each week.

Activities may include archery, fishing, camp fires, rock climbing, boating, crafts, hiking, big team sports, messy games, dance, cardio drumming, low rope challenge course, biking, chapel time, scavenger hunts, singing, slacklining, color wars, water balloon wars, food fights, multicultural festivals, laser tag, life skill classes and much more.

Check out our Youtube Channel to see all the fun we get up to!

Kindly note that when registering using our Flexi-Day option, not all activities listed will be available. If there is a certain activity your child would like to participate in, please contact the camp office well in advance. Some activities are weather dependent and may change without prior notice.

  • All sessions are co-ed and the staff to camper ratio is 1:5 (kids age 5-7) or 1:10 (kids age 8-12). We will only split the group into smaller cohorts for certain activities where group size is important, for example, Segways and boat rides.

Campers should be able to perform self—care activities such as dressing, tying shoes and eating independently. If your kid cannot tie their shoelaces consider sending them in slip-on or velcro-strapped sneakers instead.

Grotonwood welcomes campers of all backgrounds, faiths, ethnicities, and gender identities.

Our nurses are on site throughout the day and manage medication administration and triage episodic events. We will contact you in the event of emergency.

Grotonwood complies with the regulations of the Massachusetts Department of Public Health(105 CMR 430,000), and is licensed by the Groton Board of Health.

Copies of camp policies on background checks, health care and discipline policies are available on request.

Medical documents and Camp Forms MUST be submitted no later than June 1 - late fee applies.

Find a complete list of all the required medical documents here.

  • Our faith-based programming focuses on sharing fundamental Christian values, such as treating each other as we would want to be treated. Participation in faith-based activities is voluntary and campers do not have to be affiliated with any religious organization to take part.

We plan programming on the assumption that most campers are experiencing a Christian environment for the first time. Our daily Chapel services are high energy and a real highlight for many of our campers:

Practical activities include group prayer (mostly before meals and during services), singing and dancing to live music led by our amazing worship band in the chapel and around the campfire, and sharing the love of Jesus through our actions and words!

As you decide to register for camp, we simply ask you to reflect on whether you feel comfortable sending your camper to a Christian camp. We ask campers and caregivers keep an open mind and respect the Christian values we uphold. Conversely, we meet each camper wherever they are at in their spiritual walk.

We encourage curiosity, tolerance and respect through open discussion using Christianity as the foundation for understanding and learning.

  • It is strongly recommended that families top up their camper’s store account online with at least $5 to spend during visits to the camp store.

Campers visit the camp store on Friday afternoon.

We are unable to facilitate trips to the camp store on other days or after check in.

Campers will have the opportunity to visit the camp store on Friday afternoon and it is a real highlight of the week.

$5.00 is the minimum recommended amount you should deposit in to your camper’s store account. You should top up more if clothing or specialty items are to be purchased.

We operate a ‘cashless’ system at Grotonwood; All spending money is added to your camper’s account using our registration software prior to their arrival on Friday.

Please refrain from handing cash or checks to our staff during check in as this slows our processes down. If you must provide a check or cash for this purpose, please ensure you add your camper’s name on the envelope before handing it to the Unit Leader. Do not put cash in your campers backpack.

Dietary restrictions are followed at all times and camp staff are on hand to provide assistance and help campers with budgeting.

The camp store sells candy, snacks, ice creams and soda as well as lots of healthy options (popcorn, seltzers and sugar, dairy and gluten free options).

We strive to keep merchandize modestly priced. Merch includes t-shirts, sweatshirts, hats, sweatpants, backpacks, pens, plush toys, water bottles and notebooks to name a few. Prices range from $3-$35.

Any unspent store money can either be returned at the end of their time at camp or held over for their next session.

Please only top up your camper’s store account with the amount you feel comfortable with them spending. Trust us, they will spend it ALL!

If you have specific restrictions for their spending at the camp store, be sure to specify this information on the ‘Understanding Your Camper Form’ so that it is documented ready for our team to follow.
